Building Community. Supporting Women. Strengthening Families.

Creating spaces and programs that support women through pregnancy, postpartum, motherhood, and beyond.

Helping women and families find community, relationships, and resources.

Working alongside families and community partners to improve maternal and infant health.

Yakundi exists to strengthen women, mothers, babies, and families by building the community connections that help them thrive.
We believe healthier families are built when people have access not only to resources, but also to relationships, support, education, advocacy, and a community that sees them.
Our work centers women and mothers, with a particular focus on women and babies who are at greater risk of poor maternal and infant health outcomes.
Pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and motherhood were never meant to be navigated alone.Yet too many women experience these seasons without adequate support, without knowing what resources are available, or without feeling heard and supported within the systems designed to care for them.
Yakundi works to help close those gaps.We bring women, families, birth workers, healthcare providers, community organizations, and local resources together to create stronger networks of care.Because sometimes the resource already exists. What’s missing is the connection to services.
Our work is rooted in maternal and family support, community connection, education, advocacy, and relationship building.
Through community programs, partnerships, outreach, maternal health initiatives, gatherings, education, and resource navigation, we create opportunities for women and families to find support before, during, and after pregnancy.
Our work includes:
• Maternal and infant health initiatives
• Pregnancy and postpartum support
• Community education and resource navigation
• Events that create connection, wellness, and belonging
• Advocacy for women, mothers, babies, and families
• Partnerships with healthcare providers and community organizations
• Support and connection to birth workers and doulas
• Programs designed around the needs and voices of women in our community
Yakundi serves women and families throughout our community, with special attention to mothers, babies, and women experiencing barriers to care, resources, support, or community connection.
We recognize that every woman’s story is different.
Some need education.
Some need resources.
Some need advocacy.
Some simply need to know they are not walking alone.
Our goal is to help build the village around them.
At the heart of Yakundi is a simple belief:
Strong communities help create healthier mothers, healthier babies, and stronger families.
That is why we don't believe in working in silos.
We collaborate with organizations, healthcare systems, birth workers, community leaders, families, and neighbors to connect the pieces already present in our community and help identify what is still missing.
We listen first.
We build relationships.
We create spaces where women can gather, breathe, learn, be supported, and belong.individuals cope with life's challenges.
Whether you're a mother looking for support, a community organization looking to collaborate, a birth worker wanting to connect, or someone who simply believes women and babies deserve to thrive, there's a place for you in this work.
